Towards a Blended Programme for Arabic and Other Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) in the South African Higher Education Context

Disruptive technologies are widely used in education today. They aim to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies of students. The field applied linguistics, general, foreign language teaching, particular, have benefited immensely from developments taking place computer-assisted learning (CALL) mobile-assisted (MALL). However, meaningful cannot be achieved by using technology indiscriminately; an understanding educational theories key instructional design models is urgently required. present study argues that adoption established will yield effective materials not only for less commonly taught languages (LCTLs) but also classrooms general. It investigates use ADDIE model designing developing a blended syllabus teaching Arabic as South African institutions higher learning. deals with attitudes students towards designed syllabus. proposed based on wide range web-based tools e-learning specifications such Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). This serves guideline Arabic, well other languages.
